Kikuube, Uganda – The Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi, has urged women in the Bunyoro sub-region to actively participate in the Government’s GROW (Generating Rural Opportunities for Women) Programme, aimed at empowering rural women to overcome poverty through financial inclusion and cooperative savings.  

A heavy security presence was seen around the Parliament of Uganda this morning as police and other security agencies deployed in anticipation of the tabling of the controversial Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Amendment Bill.  
 
The bill, whose contents have not yet been made public, is expected to be presented before Parliament later today, sparking tensions and prompting heightened security measures. Armed police and military officers were stationed at key entry points around the parliamentary building, with additional roadblocks set up on nearby streets.  

As internal divisions rock Uganda's oldest opposition party, Democratic Party (DP) stalwart Dr. Lulume Bayiga has raised critical concerns about the party's financial sustainability and organizational direction. The former Buikwe South MP, now vying for DP's presidency, made startling revelations during preparations for the party's National Delegates Conference scheduled for November 30 in Mbarara City.
