As the Masaza Cup draws closer, Kyaggwe County has officially unveiled a new technical team that will steer the side in the highly anticipated 2026 season, raising fresh hope among supporters eager for a historic breakthrough.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the county headquarters in the heart of Mukono Municipality, attracting local leaders, team officials, and passionate fans who turned up in significant numbers to witness the new chapter in Kyagwe’s football journey.
During the function, the Second Deputy Ssekiboobo, Fred Katende, officially introduced Ssali Ronald popularly known as “Muzukkulu wa Mugema” as the county’s new head coach. Ssali replaces Simon Peter Mugerwa, who was relieved of his duties after a one-season stint that ended in a quarterfinal exit.
Speaking shortly after his unveiling, Ssali exuded confidence, pledging to guide Kyagwe to their first-ever Masaza Cup title since the tournament’s inception in 2004. He emphasized that his experience within Ugandan football circles equips him with the necessary tools to deliver results.
“I understand the expectations of the people of Kyagwe, and I am ready to work with the players and the entire technical team to achieve success,” Ssali said. “This is a challenge I embrace with confidence, not pressure.”
Kyaggwe County Chief (Ssekiboobo), Vicent Matovu Bintubiziibu, challenged the newly appointed technical bench to rise to the occasion and end years of disappointment for the county’s loyal supporters. He urged them to prioritize discipline, teamwork, and commitment as they prepare for the competition.
“Our fans have waited long enough. This is the time to wipe away their tears and bring the trophy home,” he said, while also rallying supporters to stand firmly behind the team throughout the campaign.
Team leadership, including Chairman Jonathan Ntulume and Hon Jimmy Kanabi, reassured fans that preparations are on course and that the squad will be fully ready when the tournament kicks off.
The announcement has sparked optimism among Kyaggwe faithful, many of whom expressed renewed belief in the team’s prospects under the new technical setup.
With fresh leadership and determination, the county now sets its sights on rewriting its history in the Masaza Cup.
