25-Year-Old Challenges Incumbent MP Karimu Masaba of Industrial city Division

Mbale City, Political tensions have reached a boiling point in Mbale City as a fresh and fiery contender, 25-year-old Anthony Wasukira , has thrown his hat into the ring, vying for the Member of Parliament seat for Mbale Industrial Division . The young, ambitious politician is set to lock horns with the incumbent MP, Hon. Karimu Masaba , in what is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic political battles in the region.

Speaking exclusively from his parents' home in Mooni , Wasukira painted a picture of his grassroots origins, declaring that his motivation stems from the deplorable state of roads, hospitals, and schools in the division.

"Every morning, I start with prayer before heading out to work because I know the challenges our people face," he said passionately. "Our roads are impassable, our hospitals lack medicine, and our schools are crumbling. The people deserve better, and I am ready to fight for them."

His parents, though initially hesitant, revealed that their son sought their blessing before embarking on this high-stakes journey.

"He asked us if he could achieve his dreams," his father shared."We told him to go ahead—if it’s God’s will, he will succeed."

The race is already heating up as political analysts describe it as a classic showdown between youth and experience . Wasukira’s bold entry has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with many questioning whether the incumbent MP, Hon. Karimu Masaba , can withstand the surge of youthful energy and growing discontent among voters.

"I am confident that with God’s grace, we will win this race," Wasukira declared, exuding an air of determination.

Meanwhile, in a dramatic twist, over 20 supporters from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the National Unity Platform (NUP) have defected to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM)**. The defectors cited "no future in the opposition" as their reason for crossing the floor, dealing a heavy blow to opposition strongholds in the region.

NRM’s Industrial Division Chairman, Mr. Ashimu Wabonya , welcomed the new members with open arms but issued a stern warning.

"We are happy to have them, but they must understand one thing—they should not stand against Mr. Museveni," Wabonya cautioned. "He is the grandfather of this party, and there is no need to disturb his peace."

As the political temperature rises, Mbale Industrial Division is now a battleground between a daring young challenger and a seasoned incumbent, between shifting loyalties and unwavering party lines. The question on everyone’s lips: Will youth and change triumph, or will experience and establishment hold firm?
