President Museveni assured them of his commitment to improving the market’s infrastructure, particularly the access roads.
Â
Vendors at Busega Market have expressed strong support for President Yoweri Museveni’s bid to extend his tenure into 2026, citing his government’s development projects, including the construction of a modern two-story market facility worth 300 million shillings. Â
Â
Â
During his recent campaign tour in Kampala under the Parish Development Model (PDM) program, President Museveni visited Lubaga Division and made a stop at Busega Market, where he was warmly received by enthusiastic vendors. Â
Â
Residents of Lubaga commended the President for fulfilling his promise to build the market, which has significantly improved livelihoods in the area. However, some vendors also raised concerns, including the lack of sufficient stalls, street vendors operating outside the market, limited capital, and poor access roads affecting customer traffic. Â
Â
In response, President Museveni assured them of his commitment to improving the market’s infrastructure, particularly the access roads. Â
Â
Â
Before departing Busega, President Museveni, accompanied by First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni, visited the farm of Fausta Nalweyiso, a PDM beneficiary. Â
Â
Nalweyiso expressed gratitude for the financial support, explaining how she utilised the funds to boost her farming business. She also requested additional funding to expand her activities. Â
Â
During the visit, Nalweyiso highlighted challenges with encroachers on her land. The President immediately directed authorities to secure an additional three acres for her and pledged 10 million shillings to support her farming operations. Â
Â
Â
President Museveni concluded his visit to Lubaga and is scheduled to tour Makindye Division next, where he will inspect development projects, including the Salama Road construction site, and engage with local workers. Â
