Mukono, Uganda – Tension and sorrow filled the Mukono Magistrates Court as two families faced off following the tragic death of two people in a road accident along the Mukono-Kayunga highway. The incident led to the arrest and remand of Iddi Lumu, a mechanic from Mukono Town, who is accused of causing the accident that claimed two lives.

Nama, Mukono District – The body of a young woman was discovered in a drainage channel near a construction site in Kikubankima Village, Nama Sub-County, Mukono District. The deceased has been identified as Aisha Angel, a former resident of the area who had been reported missing.

The Presidential Representative (RDC) in Lwengo District, Immy Kateera, has sternly warned residents and a wealthy landlord who is evicting them from a wetland. The RDC visited the area alongside officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and district land officials to investigate the claims of residents who stated that the wetland they depend on for water and livestock has been taken over.

The Mukono Chief Magistrates’ Court has commenced hearing of a case in which a mechanic, Idi Lumu, a resident of Nasuuti, is accused of knocking dead 21-year-old Khalid Walakira, the youngest brother of Uganda’s world champion athlete, Halima Nakayi.

Walakira died instantly on August 3, 2025, alongside his friend David Ainebyona, who was carrying him on a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UGG 503G.
