Territorial police in Mubende are currently holding a suspect following an incident of alleged forgery and the presentation of false documents at the local Electoral Commission offices.
The suspect has been identified as Kyagera Peter, a 36-year-old resident of Bubanda village in Mubende district. The incident occurred on October 23, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM.
According to preliminary police findings, Kyagera Peter, an aspiring candidate on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, presented a forged payment receipt during his nomination process. While the receipt was in his name, a check of the Electoral Commission's system revealed that the fee for his candidacy had already been paid by a different individual.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently detained at Mubende Central Police Station (CPS). The forged receipt has been recovered as an exhibit. Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala has confirmed that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
