Entebbe, Uganda – In a powerful demonstration of the Uganda People's Defence Forces’ (UPDF) modernisation drive, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, today personally inspected the state-of-the-art Aero L-39 SKYFOX (L-39NG) demonstrator at Entebbe Air Base.

With just 105 days remaining until the 2026 general elections, the Electoral Commission has made a major technological announcement. The commission has officially unveiled new biometric voter verification kits, procured from a Chinese technology company, to be deployed across all polling stations. In an unconventional start to the political season, Kasambya County’s unopposed National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearers have begun a comprehensive constituency tour, framing it as a service-delivery mission rather than a political campaign.

The government, through the Ministry of Lands, has issued 6 land titles in Mbarara City and Ibanda District. This move is aimed at resolving long-standing conflicts between occupants and alleged landlords. The intervention was spearheaded by the State Minister for Lands, Sam Mayanja, who stepped into disputes that have led to the imprisonment of 60 people and the death of 8 others.

KAMPALA, Uganda – The Electoral Commission has issued a firm warning to candidates against deploying unauthorised personnel to polling stations under the guise of “protecting the vote,” stating that such actions will attract punitive measures.

While addressing a press conference at the commission’s headquarters to update the country on the progress of the campaign period, the Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, emphasised that the law stipulates a specific number of agents per candidate. “Each candidate is allocated a maximum of two agents at a polling station,” Byabakama stated. “Any person intending to defy this guideline will face punitive action.”
