Namayingo Receives Election Materials, EC Assures Timely Delivery and Credible Polls

NAMAYINGO, Uganda — The Electoral Commission has delivered 307 polling kits to Namayingo District, marking a critical step in preparations for the general elections scheduled for Thursday, 15 January.

The materials, which correspond to the 307 polling stations across the district’s three constituencies, were received by election officials in the presence of political stakeholders, police representatives, and aspiring candidates on Monday evening.

Secure and Organised Distribution

Eve Rita Nakandi, the Namayingo District Returning Officer, assured voters and stakeholders that all materials are securely packed in uniquely labeled metallic cases—each designated for a specific polling station—and will be distributed on time.

“The Electoral Commission is fully committed to delivering a free, fair, and credible election,” she stated, adding that strict logistical controls are in place to prevent delays or mix-ups.

Security Assurances and Stakeholder Participation

The Officer in Charge of Namayingo Central Police Station, ASP Arop Richardson, who witnessed the handover, pledged maximum security before, during, and after polling day.

The transparent process was commended by political stakeholders, including aspiring candidates Hon. Wasige Hakim Mudanyi and David Owonko, who thanked the Electoral Commission for allowing them to observe the receipt of materials.

Hon. Mudanyi urged voters to turn out in large numbers and vote for leaders of their choice. “Only by exercising your civic duty can you effectively demand service delivery from those you elect,” he emphasised.

On Track for Voting Day

With distribution now underway, the Commission expressed confidence that all polling stations in Namayingo will be fully equipped ahead of Thursday, setting the stage for a smooth and orderly electoral process.

The delivery of materials to Namayingo is part of a nationwide logistical operation aimed at ensuring all regions are prepared for the January 15 presidential and parliamentary polls.
