Wakiso District Receives Complete Election Materials, Set for January 15 Polls

Wakiso District has a total of 1.45 million registered voters, who will cast their ballots across 2,452 polling stations on January 15.

WAKISO, Uganda — In a major logistical milestone, Wakiso District has taken full delivery of all essential election materials, including ballot papers and voting kits, ahead of the nationwide polling scheduled for Thursday, January 15.

The materials were transported under tight security, with police and military escort ensuring safe transit from delivery vehicles directly into a heavily guarded, sealed storage facility. The secure transfer is part of a coordinated security plan to protect electoral materials until distribution across the district.

Verification and Transparency

District Electoral Commission officials, led by the Wakiso District Returning Officer, Mr Tolbert Musinguzi, personally verified the contents of each box, checking and recording them in official logbooks to prevent tampering or discrepancies.

“Everything we require has been delivered,” Musinguzi confirmed. “What remains is for Ugandans to turn up and decide the leaders they want.”

Heightened Security and Voter Preparedness

Musinguzi also assured the public that security has been intensified and that the Commission is prepared to deliver a free, fair, and credible electoral process. He acknowledged, however, that the Electoral Commission had faced challenges in training polling agents due to the overwhelming number of agents appointed by various candidates, which strained available resources.
