NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Tanga Odoi justified the adjournment, stating: "CEC resolved to pause specifically to conclusively address pending issues
Breaking news from the ruling National Resistance Movement party tonight. The NRM's powerful Central Executive Committee (CEC), has adjourned its crucial candidate endorsement meeting without finalizing any positions. This comes as the party races to complete preparations for aspiring flagbearers across various constituencies. Lawrence Kyambadde reports from the NRM Secretariat.

In a significant development, the NRM's Central Executive Committee meeting tasked with approving candidates for upcoming elections concluded today without endorsing any aspirants. Highly placed sources confirm the adjournment allows more time to finalize nomination logistics nationwide.

Notably absent from this phase are seven districts originally slated for grassroots elections. NRM officials confirm these areas have been temporarily excluded from the lower-level party polls due to unresolved logistical and administrative challenges.

NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Tanga Odoi justified the adjournment, stating: "CEC resolved to pause specifically to conclusively address pending issues now that the vetting of all flagbearer aspirants has been completed. There are no more delays expected.

Odoi further outlined urgent next steps: Nomination forms will be distributed starting *tomorrow, June 27th*, to CEC members responsible for constituency coordination. Aspiring candidates must submit completed forms during a strict window from July 1st to July 4th– just days away.

Emphasizing the tight deadline, Odoi added: "All paperwork must reach the respective CEC constituency supervisors between July 1st and 4th. No extensions will be granted."

This pushes critical candidate decisions closer to the nomination period, increasing pressure on both aspirants and the party secretariat. With just five days until forms are due, potential candidates in those seven excluded districts remain in limbo. The NRM now races against the clock to implement its roadmap amidst growing competition.
