Aspiring NRM Chairman Denied Forms Despite Payment

HE. Kiwanuka Briton Blocked from NRM Chairmanship Nomination, Told Forms "Unavailable" Despite Meeting Fee Requirement

Aspiring National Chairman for Uganda's ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kiwanuka Briton, faced a significant setback today when he was denied the opportunity to collect nomination forms at the party's Electoral Commission headquarters. Briton arrived at the NRM EC offices located on Kyadondo Road, Plot 13, ready to formally commence his bid for the powerful party position. He had already fulfilled a key financial prerequisite, having paid a substantial non-refundable fee of 20 million Ugandan Shillings (UGX 20,000,000) into the designated NRM party account at Centenary Bank.

However, his attempt to obtain the necessary nomination paperwork was abruptly halted. The Chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, personally informed Briton that he could not be given the forms at this time.

Dr. Odoi cited the reason as a simple lack of availability, stating that forms for the National Chairman position were currently not in stock. Instead of accepting his payment confirmation and processing his intent, Dr. Odoi instructed Briton to leave the premises and return on Friday, presumably when the forms are expected to be available.

This unexpected denial and delay, occurring despite Briton having met the significant financial obligation, raises immediate questions about the accessibility of the nomination process for this high-stakes position within the ruling party and the timing of form availability relative to the payment deadline. Briton now faces an anxious wait until Friday to see if he will finally be able to access the forms and proceed with his nomination.
