NRM Members Endorse Museveni as Sole Candidate, Vow to crush opposition

Sironko District –Over the weekend, National Resistance Movement (NRM) members in Sironko District unanimously endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (M7) as their sole candidate for the upcoming elections and pledged to rally support to "make yellow again." The declaration was made during a mobilization meeting chaired by the NRM Sironko District Chairman, Mr. Manafbi Sulaman Lumolo, who emphasized the need to start early campaigns to secure victory for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the district.

District, sub-county, parish, and village NRM leaders assured Chairman Lumolo that the party would dominate most elected positions in Sironko. In a show of unity, NRM candidates vying for different offices took an oath not to run as independents if they lose in the party primaries.

In a significant boost for the ruling party, over 20 supporters of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the National Unity Platform (NUP) crossed to NRM. Some of the defectors claimed there was "no future in Ugandan opposition parties," citing the NRM’s developmental achievements as a key reason for their switch.

Hon. Ashia Lumolo, the NRM Woman MP for Sironko District (who went unopposed), urged party members to actively promote the NRM’s achievements to secure victory. She highlighted key government projects, including, Improved Road Infrastructure: Major roads across the country have been tarmacked, easing transport and boosting trade, Enhanced Healthcare Construction and renovation of hospitals like Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and health center upgrades.
Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programs enabling millions of Ugandan children to access schooling.

The Sironko Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bawanilwa  assured the public that security agencies were working to ensure violence-free NRM primaries. He warned against any acts of intimidation or chaos during the electoral process.

Chairman Lumolo boldly stated that the district would not give any political space to opposition parties, urging locals to remain loyal to NRM. He cautioned voters against being bribed by politicians with empty promises, saying, "Do not sell your votes to people who will disappear after elections. NRM delivers what it promises."

As campaigns intensify, NRM leaders in Sironko are confident of a sweeping victory, banking on the party’s track record and a well-organized grassroots mobilization strategy.
