NRM Electoral Commission Chaired by Dr. Tanga Odoi Speeds Up District Chairperson and Mayoral Elections, Following Last Week’s Events on July 24, 2025. 

Dr. Tanga Odoi has settled into the main offices of the NRM Electoral Commission, located at Plot 13, Kyadondo Road, alongside other officials working with the committee. He stated that these elections proceeded smoothly compared to the earlier parliamentary elections, which had been marred by numerous disputes.  

Minister Agnes Nandutu has threatened to contest as an independent candidate after losing the NRM primaries in Buduuda

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission Tribunal has received 381 petitions stemming from the recently concluded party primaries. The tribunal is set to begin hearing these cases on Monday, after summoning all involved parties. In some constituencies, the commission has yet to declare a winner.

The High Court Civil Division in Kampala has issued an interim ex parte order stopping the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) from holding its Delegates Conference, which had been scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Uganda’s President H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has strongly condemned intra-clan marriages as a dangerous cultural practice, warning that it endangers unborn children and violates fundamental rights 

NRM primaries in Mukono District were poorly attended, with low voter turnout and delayed voting.


Mukono District witnessed disorganised and poorly attended NRM primaries for village chairpersons and councillors, with voting delayed until late afternoon in most areas. Many polling stations reported either no voters or extremely low numbers, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the process.
