President Museveni Pledges Support for SACCOs and Vocational Training
The President emphasised the importance of vocational skills and pledged to provide modern equipment to mechanics to enhance their productivity and service quality.
Kawempe, Kampala, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made a surprise visit to mechanics in Kawempe, where he engaged with local artisans and announced plans to boost their savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs) across the 22 parishes in the division.
The President was accompanied by a delegation from State House, led by his Senior Advisor, Yiga Kissakyamukama, and the Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Kawempe, Lukka Kagenyi, alongside security officials.
During the interaction, President Museveni emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting grassroots economic initiatives. He revealed that State House would directly inject funds into the mechanics’ SACCOs to enhance their capital and expand their operations.
The President also emphasised the importance of vocational skills and pledged to provide modern equipment to mechanics to enhance their productivity and service quality.
Lukka Kagenyi, the Deputy RCC for Kawempe, thanked the President for the initiative and assured the community of the government’s dedication to improving livelihoods through such programs.
The mechanics expressed gratitude for the President’s visit and support, noting that the injection of funds into their SACCOs would enable them to access loans for expanding their workshops, purchasing tools, and improving their standards of living.
The State House team will oversee the implementation of the project, ensuring that the SACCOs are well-structured and transparently managed.
