Former Lwengo District Chairperson George Mutaabazi returns to politics, citing a decline in NRM support.


A significant political shift has occurred in Lwengo District with the former District Chairperson, George Mutaabazi, publicly announcing his retirement from the district's politics. This decision follows his observation of a decline in the integrity of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party's support base in the area.

Mpigi District LCI chairpersons received appointment letters and were inaugurated. They voiced concerns about electricity, water, and animal theft, and pledged to work collaboratively with government officials to address these issues.

A meeting was held in Mpigi District, bringing together the area's Local Council One (LCI) chairpersons. The gathering served as a platform for these grassroots leaders to receive their official letters of appointment and to be formally inaugurated into their roles.

A storm of controversy has erupted in Mukono District over the alleged mismanagement of Shs 100 million and several motorcycles that President Yoweri Museveni donated to ghetto supporters across the country.

The funds and motorcycles—meant to empower and improve the welfare of ghetto youths—have instead become the source of anger, accusations of corruption, favouritism, and misuse among the intended beneficiaries.

In Hoima City, police arrested organisers and supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, who were preparing to hold a rally. The gathering was intended to welcome their Member of Parliament for Hoima West Constituency, Kato Ronald Rwahwire.

The event commenced with the President's arrival at 11:00 am, where he was received by the Speaker of Parliament and other government officials. Dignitaries in attendance included the Vice President and officials from Libya.
