Kampala – The Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), the Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja has urged educated Ugandans to overcome apathy and participate actively in the country’s electoral processes.
Â
She emphasised that this demographic, despite often holding influential positions in various organisations, has historically shown a reluctance to vote.
Â
Namayanja stated that the election period is fast approaching and that now is the time for action. She noted that educated individuals possess significant potential and energy, which should not be spent on leisure but on civic duty. On this occasion, she specifically appealed to them to engage and learn through the upcoming election cycle.
Â
She made these remarks at a significant event held at Hotel Africana last night. The occasion was a launch ceremony for musical bands dedicated to promoting the legacy of President Yoweri Museveni and highlighting the national achievements under his leadership.Â
Â
The bands also aim to rally Ugandans to support and re-elect President Museveni in the 2026 general elections.
Â
The organiser of the event, Anthony Joseph Abaho, who also leads one of the new bands, explained its purpose. He asserted that President Museveni has accomplished a great deal for the nation since coming to power in 1986 and deserves praise and supportive advocacy for his work.
Â
In a show of support for the initiative, the NRM Deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong, represented by Rose Namayanja, contributed a cash donation of Five Million Uganda Shillings (UGX 5,000,000). This funding is intended to support Anthony Joseph Abaho's plans to expand the activities of the bands and promote their music in favour of President Museveni.
Â
The launch event was attended by approximately 1,500 people.
