Hoima, Uganda – The President of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has pledged to protect residents in the Bunyoro sub-region from land grabbers if he is elected President in the 2026 general elections.

The FDC leader made the declaration during a campaign stop in Hoima town, which lasted approximately three hours. Addressing a press conference at Kolping Hotel this morning, Mafabi strongly condemned individuals who are seizing community lands in the oil-rich region under the pretext of oil exploration activities.

 
KAMPALA – Uganda is preparing to mark its 63rd Independence Anniversary tomorrow, an event commemorating the country's liberation from British colonial rule. The celebrations are scheduled to take place at the Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds.

Tension and disappointment are brewing among youth living in the ghettos of Mukono District, who claim they never benefited from the money President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni pledged to support them with in 2023.

In December 2023, President Museveni promised to give each ghetto Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) Shs100 million to help members start small businesses and improve their livelihoods. The initiative, launched under his nationwide ghetto empowerment program, aimed to transform struggling urban youths and steer them away from poverty and crime.

Elgon sub-region residents in Uganda seek government support for road infrastructure, schools, and upgrading Bulambuli Health Center IV.

Elgon Region, Uganda – Residents living in the Elgon sub-region have appealed to the government for increased support in addressing critical challenges, including poor road infrastructure, inadequate schools, and the urgent need to upgrade Bulambuli Health Center IV into a hospital. The appeal was made during a meeting organized by the YK Patriots, a government-aligned organization, which also convened local leaders and security officials to recruit agents tasked with safeguarding the upcoming presidential elections.
