he United States Embassy in Uganda has issued a firm warning to Ugandan citizens against submitting fraudulent documents in an attempt to obtain American visas, stating that such actions are a serious crime with permanent consequences.
The suspect has been formally charged with murder and is being held in custody. He is expected to be produced before court pending his trial.
A dark and deeply troubling human trafficking network is preying on Ugandan citizens, with hundreds reportedly being lured to India under false pretenses, only to be bought and sold into modern-day slavery. Authorities and advocacy groups now estimate that over 20,000 Ugandans are trapped in India, enduring horrific abuse.
So far, police have identified 14 victims who have been affected by the robbery ring.
In a statement issued on Monday, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, detailed two separate incidents that led to the breakthroughs.
