Kassanda Police Seek Public's Help To Find Abducted Newborn

A three-day-old baby girl, daughter of Muhindo Joachim and Nalubowa Ruth, residents of Katosi Cell, Kiganda Town Council. The baby was admitted on March 12th with complications but was recovering well in the postnatal ward.

Kassanda, Uganda – The Uganda Police in Kassanda District are appealing to the public for urgent assistance in locating a three-day-old baby girl who was abducted from Kiganda Health Center IV on the morning of March 15th, 2026.

The infant, daughter of Mr. Muhindo Joachim and Ms. Nalubowa Ruth of Katosi Cell, was taken by an unidentified woman who disguised herself as a medical officer. The suspect deceived the mother into going to the pharmacy, after which she fled the ward with the baby.

The police are looking for an unidentified woman who is currently in possession of a newly born baby. We appeal to anyone who may come across a woman who was not known to be pregnant or expecting but is now seen with a newborn infant.

"We are asking anyone in Kiganda Town, Kassanda district, and the wider Wamala region to be vigilant. If you see a woman matching this description or have any information that could lead us to the safe recovery of this baby, please contact the nearest police station immediately," said L. Kigozi, SSP, PRO Wamala Region.
