The State House anti-corruption Unit has arrested other people for allegedly extorting money from various people with the intention of getting them jobs in Mukono district.

The arrested is identified as Ronald Mugerwa, the probation officer of Lugazi Municipality, who was arrested on Saturday, which increased the number of people.

Natasha Mariam, spokesperson SHCU, confirmed the arrest of Mugerwa, who had joined the chairman, Eng Dr Godfery Kibuuka Kisuule and Mukono District Council Speaker Betty Nakasi Hope, who were arrested on Friday last week.

The three were taken from the Mukono Police Station and taken to an unknown location on Saturday night. Natasha added that the suspects were extorting between 5M- 40M, according to the job that person wanted.

Natasha said they are still conducting a raid, and many are still being arrested and will be taken to court anytime soon, and their file is currently being prepared to determine the charges.

She urged all those who are being extorted to get jobs to come out so that they can be helped.

It was also found that the work in Mukono was given to their wives, friends and relatives, which they say has led to the regulation of the work in the country.

Kinoni Town Council, Lwengo District – The quiet community of Kinoni Western Zone has been plunged into mourning following the gruesome murder of Dennis Mutembi, a 46-year-old teacher at Kyangwe Primary School. The respected educator's lifeless body was discovered in his banana plantation, sending waves of anguish through this tight-knit neighborhood.

Local council chairperson Richard Ssembatya recounted the horrifying moment residents stumbled upon the scene. "We found him lying in the plantation where he had been working," Ssembatya told our reporter, his voice heavy with emotion. The visibly shaken leader condemned the act of cowardice that cut short a life dedicated to shaping young minds.

Mutembi, described by neighbors as a man of impeccable character, served as an active member of the local CBS PEWOSA community group. His commitment to both his profession and community initiatives made him a trusted figure, which makes his violent death all the more shocking.

Joseph Ndawula, the deceased's brother, fought back tears as he thanked neighbours for their swift response. "We urge police to leave no stone unturned in finding these heartless killers," Ndawula appealed, standing near the now-cordoned-off crime scene.

Kinoni Town Councillor Annet Nambalirwa expressed grave concerns about the possible motives behind the killing. "There are troubling indications this may be connected to his involvement with community funds," she revealed, suggesting robbery as a potential angle. The councillor also described the particularly brutal nature of the attack that claimed the teacher's life.

As investigators removed the body for autopsy at Masaka Hospital, police assured residents of a thorough investigation. Forensic teams combed the plantation for evidence while detectives began questioning potential witnesses in the area.

The murder has left this educational community reeling, with colleagues and students struggling to comprehend the loss of a teacher who dedicated his life to their development. At Kyangwe Primary School, grief counsellors have been brought in to help staff and pupils cope with the tragedy.

Local leaders have called for calm as authorities pursue the investigation, while residents remain hopeful that justice will prevail for the man they remember as not just an educator, but a pillar of their community.

The sudden death of Ms. Fatumah Bbuye Nabiwemba, a 47-year-old State Attorney attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) headquarters, has raised serious concerns and unanswered questions. Here’s a breakdown of the key details and lingering mysteries:

The territorial police at Kasangati Division are investigating a case of sudden death involving Ms. Fatumah Bbuye Nabiwemba, a 47-year-old State Attorney attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) headquarters. The incident was reported on 10th July 2025 at around 8:36 p.m. by Mr. Hamuza Kabanda, a driver at the DPP headquarters. Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was last seen at her workplace approximately four days prior to the discovery. She was found unresponsive inside her residence in Wampeewo, Kasangati Town Council, where she lived alone.

According to her elder brother whom we found at her home this morning Sserwanja Ismail,He told us that she had not been feeling well after losing her only son,She had sent her maid to check on relatives, leaving her alone in the house. When the maid returned after three days without hearing from her she found her dead.

So far,No clear details were provided on  what happened during that period, since the police is still investigating the matter. Detectives recovered "items of evidential value" from her home,Postmortem pending to determine the exact cause of death.

There are still pending questions surrounding her death, including why she was living alone, given her past trauma (losing her son) and previous disappearance. Was there no concern for her mental or physical safety? Was there foul play? The delay in discovering her body (3-4 days) raises concerns, as there were signs of forced entry, struggle, or poisoning. In January 2018, she went missing and later recovered, but no information about where she was found was given, leaving the public to wonder what happened. Her unexplained disappearance years ago adds to the mystery, as it raises questions about whether she was under threat, kidnapped, or suffering from a mental health crisis. As a State Attorney, did her work involve sensitive cases that could have made her a target?

The body was conveyed to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination to establish the cause of death as investigations are going on according to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police
