Police Hold Suspect In Connection With Wakiso Murder

The suspect was apprehended and is currently in police custody at Matugga. Investigations are ongoing.

The suspect, Masaba John, was previously in a relationship with a woman identified as Nanfuka Joan. After their separation, Nanfuka reportedly began a new relationship with the victim, Kiyingi Vincent.

On the night of March 23rd, 2026, at around 1:00 AM, the suspect allegedly went to Nanfuka Joan's rented residence in Kiti B Cell. The deceased was spending the night there. When the suspect knocked, the victim opened the door, leading to a confrontation between the two men. The altercation escalated into a fight, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife, resulting in his death.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Masaba John, who is currently in custody at Matugga, was previously in a relationship with a woman identified as Nanfuka Joan. Following their separation, Nanfuka reportedly entered into a relationship with the deceased.

According to reports, at approximately 1:00 AM on the night in question, the suspect went to Nanfuka's rented residence where the victim was present. A confrontation ensued between the two men after the deceased opened the door. The situation escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab the victim.

Police responded promptly, and the suspect was apprehended. The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the city mortuary as investigations continue.

"We are actively investigating this tragic incident. The suspect remains in custody and will be produced in court once our inquiries are complete," said SP Kawala Racheal, PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP).
