Two Tragic Deaths Under Investigation in Pallisa District

Bukedi North, Pallisa district— Police in Bukedi North are investigating two separate tragic incidents that claimed the lives of a six-year-old boy and a fisherman in Pallisa District over the past month.


In the first incident, a six-year-old boy identified as Ekait Moses drowned on  March 14, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM in a hill pool within Komolo Village, Kameke Sub-county.

According to the reporter, Aporu Faustino,  a 50-year-old peasant and uncle to the deceased, the child had been epileptic since birth. On the fateful day, Ekait Moses went to bathe at the pool, where he tragically drowned.

The case was first reported at Kameke Police Post (SD Ref 08/14/03/2026) and later registered at Pallisa Police Station under CRB 105/2026.

In a separate incident on April's 8, 2026, at about 12:00 PM, a fisherman identified as Oonyu Simon aka Obiro lost his life following a violent altercation at Kawi Swamp/Lake.

The reporter, Iyogil Michael, a 27-year-old student and resident of Obungai Village, Olok Sub-county, stated that a group of fishermen from Olok had gone fishing when they encountered a group from the local Beach Management Unit (BMU) led by an individual only known as "Okelta" from Apopong Sub-county. A misunderstanding escalated into a fight, during which Oonyu Simon was injured and thrown into the water. He later died.

The victim's body was recovered on April 9, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM.

In both cases, police teams from Pallisa Police Station — including the Deputy CID officer, SOCO (Scene of Crime Officer), and other detectives — responded promptly.

- Both bodies were conveyed to Pasllisa General Hospital pending postmortem examinations to determine the exact causes of death.
- Statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses in both matters.
- No arrests have been made in the murfder case, and inquiries are ongoing.
