A 94-year-old woman in Luwero District has been restored to her land after a dramatic intervention by the State Minister for Lands, Dr. Sam Mayanja. The Minister ordered the immediate eviction of a wealthy land buyer and his associates who had allegedly taken over the elderly woman's property, leaving her destitute. An 80-year-old woman,Edith Natumbwe Kizito, has petitioned the Law Development Centre (LDC) court in Makerere, seeking legal protection against a woman named Mariam Kuteesa, whom she accuses of attempting to grab her land.

Residents of Ntaawo village in Mukono Municipality were thrown into shock in the early hours of Monday morning after armed assailants ambushed a police officer, shot him dead, and made off with his gun.

The deceased, ASP Emanuel Bagenda, was the officer in charge of the Ntaawo police station. His colleague, Jackson Kiyinji, survived with serious injuries and was rushed to Nakasero Hospital in critical condition.
