Tensions flared in Upper Nabuti village as police were called to quell unrest between residents and construction workers implementing a major infrastructure project. The conflict centres around an 18.4km road construction project in Mukono Municipality, awarded to the Chinese firm CCCC under an 18-month government contract.  

Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, emphasized the urgent need for more personnel. "The current number of police officers in Bugisu and across Uganda is insufficient relative to the population," he stated. "This recruitment will help bridge the gap and enhance service delivery in crime prevention and public safety."

Kayunga District, Galiraya. Tension is high in the villages of Kisuga-B, Kambatanyi, and Kyedikyo as residents face eviction threats from land claimed by Wasswa Solomon, who asserts ownership of approximately 600 acres. The dispute escalated after a crisis meeting was convened in Kisuga-B, attended by local leaders, area MP Charles Tebandeke, and other officials, to investigate the legitimacy of Solomon’s claims.
