As Uganda celebrates its 63 years of independence today, 9th October, the nation reflects on the patriots and visionaries who are actively shaping its future. Among these distinguished figures is businessman and philanthropist, Dr Al Hajj Hamis Kiggundu, whose multifaceted contributions to the economy, sports infrastructure, and urban development have sparked a national conversation about recognition and honour.

Kampala, Uganda – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa, has expressed concern over the ongoing power outages, stating that the problem cannot be resolved immediately. She attributed the instability to the heavy workload of maintaining all power distribution infrastructure and the increasing electricity demand.

In a major drive to empower small business owners and promote financial inclusion, the Bank of Uganda (BoU), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Sonde, has launched a nationwide financial literacy campaign targeting market vendors and small-scale traders.

The initiative officially kicked off at Goma Farmers and Vendors Market, commonly known as Goma Market, where hundreds of traders gathered for a hands-on training session aimed at improving their financial management skills and protecting them from fraud.
