KAMPALA, UGANDA – A fire has broken out at the Mogas fuel station in Seeta, prompting an emergency response from the Police Fire and Rescue Services.
In a statement released on the morning of April 15, 2026, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed that efforts to extinguish the blaze are currently ongoing. He added that the exact cause of the fire will be communicated to the public in due course.
The fire has caused significant traffic congestion in the area, disrupting normal flow on the busy corridor. In response, the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has advised motorists to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
Alternative Routes
- Motorists traveling from Mukono towards Kampala are advised to divert via Seeta–Sonde Road through Namugongo to access the city.
- Motorists traveling from Kampala to Mukono are encouraged to use Jookas through Namanve Industrial Park or alternatively take the Northern Bypass via Naalya–Sonde–Seeta.
Police have apologized to the public for any inconvenience caused and urged patience as firefighting teams work to manage the situation.

Authorities have promised to share more details regarding the fire as soon as they become available.
