Police in Luwero District have launched a manhunt for unidentified assailants who allegedly attacked and murdered a 63-year-old man in his home, in what is being treated as a suspected case of murder.
The deceased has been identified as Nsubuga Christopher , a resident of Kikubajinja Village, Luwero Town Council. He succumbed to his injuries this morning at Luwero Hospital, hours after the brutal assault.
According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of Monday, June 8, 2026, at around 9:00 pm. Nsubuga was reportedly at his home when unidentified men attacked him, striking him on the head. He was rushed to Luwero Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead upon arrival early on Tuesday morning.
Territorial Police in Luwero District swiftly registered a case of suspected murder following notification this morning. A team comprising the homicide unit and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) from Luwero Police Headquarters immediately visited both the primary scene at the victim’s residence and the secondary scene at the hospital.
“Police canine units were deployed to the scenes to aid in the search for evidence,” a police statement confirmed. Investigators photographed the scenes, recorded statements from relevant witnesses, and collected blood samples for DNA analysis. A postmortem examination Form 48B has been completed to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary findings indicate that the body sustained two deep cuts, in addition to the head injury. Sources close to the investigation have revealed that the deceased had been experiencing domestic misunderstandings with some family members and had been living alone at the time of the attack.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, but police have not ruled out any possibilities, including links to the reported domestic disputes.
The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) S. Twiineamazima, Police spokesperson for Savannah Region, confirmed that the hunt for the assailants is actively underway.
“Efforts to apprehend and prosecute those responsible are progressing,” ASP Twiineamazima stated. “Further inquiries are still ongoing, and we urge anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist police.”
Residents of Kikubajinja Village expressed shock at the killing, describing the late Nsubuga as a quiet elderly man who had lived in the area for many years. “He was living by himself. We never expected something like this to happen here,” one neighbor, who preferred anonymity, said.
As investigations continue, police have appealed for public cooperation, particularly from anyone who may have seen suspicious movements around Kikubajinja Village on the evening of June 8.
This latest incident comes amid growing concerns over violent crimes in parts of Luwero District. Police have assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the nearest police station or call the Savannah Regional Police Hotline.
