Kiboga police successfully impounded exhibits during an operation targeting fuel siphoning and theft of road construction materials.
An intelligence led operation targeting fuel siphoning and theft of road construction materials used in the construction of Kampala - Kiboga - Kyankwanzi - Hoima road which was conducted on the 17/06/2026 by Kiboga police successfully resulted in impounding of a number of exhibits.
The operation was conducted in Lwamata town council which is a black spot area for such criminal acts.
Many hot spot areas with organized criminal networks targeting fuel tankers, construction trucks, heavy machinery and storage yards along the way were targeted in this operation.
Criminal activities like siphoning fuel (diesel and petrol), theft of cement, metallic road barriers and other road construction materials are among other factors leading to unnecessary delays in projects completion and also causing financial loss to government.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a notorious suspect Muyanja Wilbur and recovery of the following exhibits.
1. 20 jerrycans of 20 liters of suspected siphoned diesel.
2. Motor vehicle truck reg no UBL 030A TATA PRIMA found being siphoned.
3. 47 pieces of iron bars.
4. 27 empty jerrycans of 20 liters used for storage and transportation of siphoned fuel.
5. 6 rubber siphoning tubes and hoses
6. 2 funnel and pumping accessories.
7. 2 mobile phones believed to be used in coordinating these criminal activities.
Cement and iron bars are sold to local small hardware shops, Fuel sold to small petrol stations whereas metallic materials are sold to scrap dealers.
The public is cautiond on engaging in such acts of economic sabotage. Those involved directly and indirectly are going to be dealt with decisively as many intelligence networks are closely monitoring those involved and suspected to be involved by aiding or abetting such acts.
