Masaka, Uganda – Members of the Democratic Party (DP) from across the country gathered in Masaka for a major convention aimed at revitalizing the party and strategizing for the upcoming 2026 elections. The meeting focused on rebranding the party, issuing new membership cards, and fostering dialogue with other opposition groups, including the National Unity Platform (NUP).  


The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has expressed deep concern over the violent incidents that marred the recent party primaries in Sembabule District, where the electoral process turned deadly. Odoi has pledged a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice prevails.  

Competition for Katikamu north MP  has intensified after three candidates completing the nomination process.Katikamu which is one of the battle field for the NRM 1986 liberation war has been dominated by the opposition  after the national unit platform Flag  bearer Hassan Lukalidde winning the previous election from an NRM candidate Edward Sembatya who had won the election after the then  Mp who was also the attoney general doctor Kiddu Makubuya who had won this sit from the constituency assembly.

Former deputy  Rcc Rubaga division  Andersen Buroora has today picked nomination to contests as  Nrm MP flag bearer for Nakawa division  region.Speaking after the nomination Buroora vowed to defeat the current speaker of parliament Joel Senyonyi who is competing for the same position.

Kampala, Uganda – In a strategic move to solidify its position in the upcoming electoral cycle, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has seen significant developments regarding its candidacies, particularly for the hotly contested Kampala Central Member of Parliament seat.

Minister for Kampala, Hajat Minsa Kabanda, now stands as the NRM’s unopposed flagbearer for the Kampala Central MP position. This follows the voluntary withdrawal of two fellow aspirants, Charles Nambafu and Baker Kyambadde.Speaking from the NRM secretariat, both Nambafu and Kyambadde affirmed their decision to step aside, citing a desire to avert further internal party conflicts that could inadvertently benefit the opposition. Kabanda, for her part, swiftly denied any allegations of financial inducement, emphasizing that the candidates' decision was made in the best interest of party unity and cohesion.
