President Yoweri Museveni has hailed Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo for his integrity and transformative leadership of Uganda’s Judiciary during a thanksgiving ceremony in Patong, Agago District.
Museveni praised Owiny-Dollo’s loyalty during the northern insurgencies and commended his role in championing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which has expanded access to justice.
The President emphasized wealth creation over infrastructure as the key to transformation, citing success stories like farmer Joseph Ijaara of Serere. He also reflected on past leadership mistakes and praised the now-national character of the UPDF.
Owiny-Dollo, who retires in six months, thanked the President for increasing the Judiciary’s budget and pledged to return home to contribute to community transformation.
Deputy Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija and Ministers Hilary Onek and Akello Akori also paid tribute to Owiny-Dollo’s legacy, calling for continued support to the Acholi sub-region and speedy war compensation.
