NRM Aspirants Hit the Ground Running in Lwemiyaga Ahead of 2026 Elections

This early campaign blitz reflects the competitive nature of Lwemiyaga politics, with aspirants seeking to establish strong grassroots networks before official campaigns commence 

Sembabule   – The race for Lwemiyaga County's parliamentary seat has intensified as NRM aspirants launched grassroots campaigns over the weekend, crisscrossing villages to secure support ahead of the party primaries.  

Several contenders, including Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Rwashande have adopted a door-to-door approach, bypassing large rallies in favor of personal engagements with voters. Rwashande, travelling with a convoy of branded vehicles and bodaboda outriders, spent Saturday meeting NRM leaders and locals, pledging to address long-standing community challenges.  

 
The retired army officer emphasised his commitment to solving persistent issues in Lwemiyaga, stating:  "Our focus is on direct engagement – understanding people's needs rather than empty promises."  His team, including supporter Phenehansi Katrima, distributed campaign materials while listening to residents' concerns.  

  
The ruling party has commenced voter verification exercises to issue party cards, ensuring only bona fide members participate in the upcoming primaries. Other aspirants are employing similar tactics, holding small meetings to convince delegates of their electability against potential NRM rivals.
