Members of Parliament (MPs) on the Public Accountability Committee have called on the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to provide evidence of all case files transferred from the General Court Martial to civilian courts. This follows a Supreme Court ruling that declared the trial of civilians by the General Court Martial null and void.

Kawempe Police are actively investigating a tragic murder incident that occurred on February 25, 2025, in Kazo Central One Zone, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District. The deceased, identified as Nalubega Dorah Perus (25), was allegedly killed by her husband, Luwaga James, following a domestic dispute.  

Senior officials from the Uganda Police Force have released the 2024 Annual Crime Report, which reveals a 4.1% increase in crime rates across the country.  

During a press conference held at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, leaders from various police departments, including traffic, fire and rescue, and criminal investigations, highlighted key findings from the report.  

AIGP Lawrence Nuwabiine, the Director of Traffic and Road Safety, noted that the majority of road accidents occur between Friday and Sunday, with the highest number of incidents recorded at the beginning and end of the week.

The Katikiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has appealed to the government to release former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights. Mayiga made the call during a public address, where he also highlighted the need for the government to ensure that all citizens are treated fairly and justly.
