Uganda Communications Commission Cracks Down on Media Violations and Sets Guidelines for Broadcasters

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), the regulatory body overseeing broadcasting in Uganda, has condemned the actions of some security personnel who have been intimidating journalists. The commission has also issued strict guidelines for media houses to follow, especially during this political season.

This development comes in the wake of recent incidents during the by-election to fill the vacant parliamentary seat for Kawempe North, where several journalists were reportedly harassed. The UCC has also warned broadcasters, including those hosting political talk shows, to adhere to the set guidelines as the country enters a critical political period.

Addressing radio and TV broadcasters, Nyombi Tembo stressed the importance of professionalism, especially as the country prepares for the 2026 general elections.
