Women in the Bunyoro region, particularly in the districts of Hoima, Buliisa, and Kikuube, are facing significant challenges due to the scarcity of firewood and the adverse effects of climate change. These challenges have been exacerbated by the oil exploration activities around Lake Albert, which have disrupted their traditional sources of firewood and impacted their livelihoods.  

Despite being elevated to city status, several areas annexed to Masaka City from neighboring districts such as Lwengo, Kalungu, and rural Masaka are yet to witness any significant development or improvement in services. Residents of these areas, including villages like Kisaaka, Kabukolwa, Kimwanyi, and Kyalubu, express frustration over the lack of tangible benefits since their inclusion in the city.  

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued a stern warning to individuals who have misused or defaulted on funds allocated under the Parish Development Model (PDM). During a media interaction with journalists from the Ankole sub-region at his Rwakitura residence, the President proposed a 10-month jail term for those found guilty of stealing or failing to repay PDM funds. This period, he suggested, would allow the government to recover the misappropriated funds.  

The government has announced that local contractors will be prioritized in the construction of various roads in Kampala, with a commitment to support and empower Ugandan firms. This was revealed by State Minister for Kampala, Joseph Kyofatogabye, during a press conference held at the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) headquarters, where contracts for various road construction projects were signed.
