In their statement issues on saturday 12th april 2025, The ministry stated that the two bridges Karuma and Ayago will be re opened to all traffic on monday morning which is today.
“This follows the successful installation and curing of expansion joints. These are critical components that allow the bridge structure to expand and contract with temperature changes and traffic loads, thereby maintaining its structural integrity and extending its lifespan.”
While the bridge reopens, additional works such as the installation of guardrails, street lighting, river training works, cat’s eyes installation, and painting of structural steel plate girders under the bridge will continue.
These works, the ministry said, will not affect traffic flow.
