Farmers in Kasese and Rubirizi districts are celebrating the installation of an electric fence along Queen Elizabeth National Park boundaries, a project supported by the Ministry of Water and Environment through the Investment for Forest and Protected Area Conservation and Development initiative. The fence aims to end years of destructive human-wildlife conflicts, particularly from elephants and warthogs that routinely raided crops.

The High Court in Hoima is set to hear a case involving residents displaced during the 2014 land acquisition for the Hoima Oil Refinery. Represented by the Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO), the plaintiffs allege unfair compensation after losing 29 square miles of land in Kabaale Parish to government projects, including the refinery, Kabalega International Airport, and an industrial park.  

The Ugandan government, through the Ministry of Kampala and the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Climate Change, has introduced a new program aimed at enhancing waste management standards, stimulating job creation, and reducing plastic pollution across the country.
