PLU Launches "Tuko Pamoja" Door-to-Door Campaign, Aims for 500,000 Museveni Votes in Kampala

KAMPALA – November 21, 2025 – The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has officially kicked off an aggressive door-to-door mobilisation drive, dubbed the "Tuko Pamoja" (We Are Together) campaign, with a clear target of securing half a million votes for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the capital during the 2026 General Elections.

The campaign was launched on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Bat Valley Primary School in Kampala, during a high-energy engagement presided over by the PLU National Vice Chairman, Nuwagira Michael Toyota Kaguta.

Addressing supporters drawn from the different divisions of Kampala, Toyota outlined a strategic partnership with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). He tasked PLU supporters with the specific mission of mobilising 500,000 votes for President Museveni in the city, confidently stating that "the NRM will add the rest" to ensure a decisive victory.

In a significant announcement aimed at bolstering election security and coordination, the Vice Chairman revealed plans to introduce advanced electronic chip technology. He explained that this system would serve a dual purpose: to monitor the election process and to track the support base of the PLU in different regions, ensuring what he termed "efficient and verifiable mobilisation."

"The future of our mobilisation is here. We are deploying 21st-century technology to protect the will of the people and ensure our victories are transparent and untouchable," Toyota told the gathered crowd.

The event also marked a notable political shift, as over 30 youth members from the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) crossed the floor to join the PLU and the NRM. The defectors publicly pledged their allegiance to President Museveni, citing a desire for unity and national development.

This mass defection and the launch of the "Tuko Pamoja" campaign signal an intensified effort by pro-government groups to consolidate support in Kampala, a region that has historically presented a strong challenge to the NRM. The door-to-door strategy, coupled with the promise of new monitoring technology, sets the stage for a highly digital and grassroots-based election campaign.
