Buweekula Celebrate Historic Masaza Cup Triumph with Glamorous Champions Award Gala

Buweekula FC marked their historic 2025 Masaza Cup triumph with a glamorous Champions Award Gala celebrating the individuals whose contributions powered the team to its first-ever championship title.

The elegant ceremony—masterminded by Dr Simon Peter Babumba—was hosted by sports caster and team PRO Julius Adams Nsereko, under the theme “Celebrating Hajji Rajab Ssebulime Football Revolution.” The night paid tribute not only to the championship-winning squad but also to the leadership that rebuilt the team into title contenders.

Team manager Hajji Rajab Ssebulime received the prestigious Life Achievement Award, honouring his remarkable leadership, financial support, and transformation of Buweekula since 2022. His vision and investment were central to the team’s journey to their maiden Masaza Cup title in 2025.
Players and technical staff were celebrated for their roles in Buweekula’s remarkable season. Kalema Jimmy was crowned Most Valuable Player of the Season, while Ssonko Shafik earned the Runners-up MVP Award.
The Goal of the Season accolade went to Talemwa Alex, whose breathtaking 9th-minute strike against Ssingo stood out among the season’s top goals. New signing Ssemanda Collin was recognised for making an immediate impact, claiming the New Signing Award after key performances in critical matches.
Team captain Paliyo Calvin Ba Ogubezo received the Distinguished Service Player Award for his leadership on and off the pitch. At the same time, Aniku Fahad retained his Most Disciplined Player title for the second time.
Head Coach Felix Sekabuuza Ssalongo was honoured with the Distinguished Service Coach Award, recognising his tactical brilliance that led the team to its maiden championship. Former tactician Frank Mulindwa also received a Distinguished Service Coach Award for previously guiding the team to a Masaza Cup final and keeping Buweekula competitive over the years.
Buweekula’s longtime CEO, Kyambadde Joseph, who has served the club for over a decade as both player and official, was honoured for his unwavering dedication. Chairperson Richard Kasumba was also recognised for exceptional leadership.
The night extended its celebration to the fans, with Hildah Hildah, a foreign-based supporter originally from Buweekula, named Best Fan of the Season.
The gala was graced by top dignitaries, including Ssaza Chief Owek. Andrew Mukasa Ssempijja, Owek. Kyambadde Posiano, Owek. Hajji Akim Kayiza, and Hon. Masembe Deo Mujabi, the NRM flagbearer for MP in Mubende Municipality.
