President Museveni Charts Path to Prosperity for Busoga, Urges Shift to Commercial Agriculture
President Museveni urges the Busoga sub-region to focus on commercially viable agriculture for wealth creation and socioeconomic transformation.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued a decisive directive to the people of the Busoga sub-region, urging a strategic and unwavering focus on commercially viable agricultural enterprises as the definitive pathway to genuine wealth creation and socioeconomic transformation.
Citing powerful success stories from across the nation, the President pointed to regions that have reaped the rewards of this focused approach. He highlighted the remarkable transformation of Masaka through intensive coffee cultivation, the economic boom in Kalangala and Bundibugyo driven by palm oil, and the sustained prosperity of districts in the cattle corridor, which have thrived on dedicated dairy farming.
"Let the people of Busoga be clear: the formula for wealth is proven and within reach," President Museveni stated. "The model we advocate is not a new experiment. It is a consistent and battle-tested message of wealth creation that has been our guiding principle since the 1960s and was formally enshrined in the 1996 NRM manifesto to ensure prosperity for all Ugandans."
The President's guidance underscores a call for the sub-region to move beyond subsistence farming and embrace a modern, market-oriented agricultural revolution. By selecting and optimising high-value crops and livestock enterprises, Busoga can unlock its vast economic potential and secure a future of sustained growth and development for its people.
