President Museveni Directs Expedited Compensation for SGR-Affected Families in Busoga

President Museveni ordered expedited compensation for those affected by the Standard Gauge Railway construction in Busoga.

JINJA, UGANDA – In a significant move to address a critical hurdle to national infrastructure development, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued a direct order to expedite the compensation process for persons affected by the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) in the Busoga sub-region.

The President has tasked the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, with personal follow-through on the existing compensation plan, ensures its swift and transparent implementation across the affected districts.

This directive underscores the government's commitment to balancing transformative national projects with social responsibility and the welfare of its citizens. The SGR, a flagship project intended to revolutionise Uganda's transport logistics and boost regional trade, has seen its progress contingent on the resolution of land and compensation matters.

By instructing the office of the NRM Secretary General to take direct oversight, the President aims to cut through bureaucratic delays and ensure that affected individuals and communities receive their due compensation promptly.
