ACHOLI SUB-REGION, UGANDA – Leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the Acholi sub-region have convened to finalise preparations for President Yoweri Museveni's upcoming campaign tour of the area.
The President's visit will follow his campaign activities in the West Nile sub-region. The tour will cover multiple districts within Acholi, including Agago, Gulu City, Kitgum, Pader, Abim, and others.

The NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong, emphasised that for this campaign cycle, local leaders must take the lead in mobilising voters. He stressed that local leaders know their people better than officials coming from Kampala.

Hamsom Obua, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, directed leaders to ensure the Acholi sub-region is overwhelmingly "yellow" – the NRM's signature colour – on election day, indicating widespread support for the party.

Hajjat Medina, the NRM Director of Finance, announced that a reward will be given to the district that performs best in mobilising support, though the specific nature of the prize was not disclosed. Leaders also cited the developmental works President Museveni has done for the region as a key reason for people to vote for him.

Local leaders outlined the specific issues in the sub-region they want the President to address in his manifesto. They pledged to deliver a massive voter turnout for him.

The head of the "NRM Yiga Kisa Kyamukama" group expressed happiness with the President's supporters and urged leaders to vigorously campaign against voter apathy.

Later, NRM officials, including Spokesperson Emmanuel Dombo and Ambassador Awich Pollar, held a press conference to brief the media on the party's activities in the Lango sub-region and discuss the plans for the First Lady.
With high enthusiasm, the people of Acholi are eagerly awaiting to welcome and show their support for President Museveni in his bid for re-election.
