President Yoweri Museveni commissioned the Kamuho-Kabale 135kV power substation in Rubanda District, reaffirming the government's commitment to overcoming infrastructure challenges for last-mile service delivery and wealth creation.
He emphasized the substation's role in tackling unemployment in the Kigezi sub-region by fostering industrial growth and value chains.
Additionally, Museveni announced plans to engage tea growers to address concerns over tea prices, urging farmers to conduct proper cost-benefit analyses. He advised small-scale farmers to adopt the 4-acre model and encouraged larger landholders to pursue mechanized agriculture.
Vice President Jessica Alupo urged residents to leverage the new power station for household development, while Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa called for faster resolution of right-of-way issues, citing high compensation demands as a major hurdle for government projects.
