Three Arrested in Mukono Over Brutal Murder of Female Trader

Mukono Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of 25-year-old market vendor Jacline Nyawede, whose decapitated body was discovered in her home in Namawojjolo East, Nama Sub-county.

The victim's former lover, Abu Muygu (28), along with Kizito Mubaraka (34) and traditional healer James Bakabulindi (28), were apprehended following a tip-off from residents. Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrests, stating that investigations began after Nyawede was reported missing by neighbours.

Motive: Police suspect a love triangle and financial disputes, with Muygu allegedly pressuring Nyawede for money before her death. Modus Operandi: The killers decapitated Nyawede and attempted to burn her body using a charcoal stove. Evidence: Nyawede’s phone records led police to Muygu, who had contacted her before the murder.

Residents of Namawojjolo expressed shock, revealing that Muygu had a history of violence against women. LC2 Chairman Charles Lwanga condemned the act, recalling how he had warned Muygu after a prior Easter Monday altercation.

Ongoing Investigations:
The victim’s head and remains were taken to Mulago Hospital for forensic analysis. Police are probing possible ritualistic elements, given Bakabulindi’s involvement.
