Uganda Host Africa Rugby Tournament, Federation Meets President Museveni

Kampala, Uganda – Uganda is set to host the upcoming African Rugby Tournament at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, bringing together teams from across the continent. In preparation for the event, officials from the Uganda Rugby Federation paid a courtesy call to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House, Nakasero, yesterday.  


 
The delegation, led by Uganda Rugby Union President Herbert Mensah, briefed the President on tournament preparations. President Museveni assured them of Uganda's readiness to host the event and commended the rugby team for their discipline and growing competitiveness in African rugby.  

"Uganda is fully prepared to welcome teams from across Africa for this tournament," said Museveni. "Sports development remains a priority, and we will invest more in infrastructure to support rugby and other disciplines."  
The President pledged increased funding for sports facilities, emphasising the government’s commitment to nurturing talent and positioning Uganda as a regional sports hub. The tournament at Namboole Stadium is expected to showcase Uganda’s organisational capabilities and passion for rugby.
