They claim that the reason given by security at Entebbe Airport, including police, was unclear
The family is in distress after their relative was reportedly blocked. He was arrested at Entebbe International Airport, and for four days now, he has not been seen. He had come to attend a funeral of a family member. He had been nominated as the presidential candidate for the Federal Alliance party but had not yet been officially introduced before the party leadership.
There is a family in distress after their relative was reportedly blocked. They claim that security operatives were waiting for him and arrested him upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport when he returned from abroad, specifically from South Africa, where he had been residing.
He was arrested under unclear circumstances, and since then, his relatives have not known his whereabouts or the exact reason for his detention.
The detained person is Dr. Robert Kayingo Lujja, whom we previously reported on when he was nominated as the presidential candidate for the Federal Alliance party before party officials dismissed him at their offices in Mengo.
According to family members, led by his mother, Namubiru Gorret, and his sister Nakimuli Claire, they had gathered at their ancestral home in Buwaali, Nsangi, for a funeral ceremony. They say he had just arrived to participate in the burial of his brother, Mike Sserunkuuma Kinobe, at their father’s home, where their elder brother Bruno Sserunkuuma was also present before he was arrested at the airport.
Nakimuli, who had gone to the airport to pick him up, said their relative was communicating well with her, but when he arrived at the airport, he was taken by security personnel without further explanation.
They claim that the reason given by security at Entebbe Airport, including police, was unclear, and they were not assisted despite repeatedly asking for information about their relative’s detention.
However, up to now, they have not received any updates from Entebbe Airport or any security agency regarding his whereabouts, which has left them deeply troubled.
They have now appealed to security agencies in the country to help them locate their relative, clarify the charges against him (if any), and ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, members of the Federal Alliance party, which he was leading, have also raised concerns, with their leader, Sozzi Lawrence, and other officials expressing frustration after being blocked from accessing their offices.
They have been engaging with the media at their party offices in Mengo, expressing shock over the arrest of their leader during this politically sensitive time.
The spokesperson for Entebbe International Airport, Viane Lujja, when contacted, said he was not aware of the matter.
