NRM Flag Bearers in Lubaga Division Vow Unity Ahead of 2026 Elections

Lubaga, Kampala, Uganda – The newly elected NRM flag bearers in Lubaga Division have pledged to work together to secure a victory for the party in the 2026 general elections. The leaders, who were recently nominated in the party primaries, held a unity meeting to strategise and strengthen collaboration among themselves.
Charles Ssemwogerere, the NRM flag bearer for Lubaga Division Mayor, led the meeting. He emphasised the importance of unity and collective effort to ensure the party wins all positions in Lubaga and Kampala at large.
The meeting was attended by flag bearers for directly elected councillors to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Lubaga Division local government councils. Among them were Kagwa Deo and Patrick Male, who expressed optimism about the party’s prospects following the unity gathering. However, some party supporters, led by Ahmed Sserwambala from Kabowa, expressed dissatisfaction with the primary election outcomes. They warned that those who lost in the primaries might run as independents, which could split the party’s vote.
The NRM Electoral Commission has finalised preparations for the upcoming youth elections. Commissioner James Williams Kinobe confirmed that all necessary materials have been delivered to district offices across the country.
Deputy Commission Chairperson Jochan Fred Omach will oversee the announcement of the results, as Chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi recused himself due to a conflict of interest involving his son, Collins Tanga, who is vying for the youth representative position.
The youth elections, initially scheduled to take place during the NRM Conference at Kololo Independence Grounds last month, were postponed due to disputes and irregularities, including complaints about Collins Tanga’s victory.
