Residents in Elgon Region Plead for Government Aid

Elgon sub-region residents in Uganda seek government support for road infrastructure, schools, and upgrading Bulambuli Health Center IV.

Elgon Region, Uganda – Residents living in the Elgon sub-region have appealed to the government for increased support in addressing critical challenges, including poor road infrastructure, inadequate schools, and the urgent need to upgrade Bulambuli Health Center IV into a hospital. The appeal was made during a meeting organized by the YK Patriots, a government-aligned organization, which also convened local leaders and security officials to recruit agents tasked with safeguarding the upcoming presidential elections.

The YK Patriots emphasized their commitment to ensuring the 2026 elections are peaceful and fair. The organization has launched a major mobilization effort across the Elgon sub-region, enlisting the help of local security forces and recruiting agents to be deployed at every polling station to protect the integrity of the presidential vote.

Nkata also issued a warning to youth who might consider disrupting the peace, stating that authorities are prepared to manage any situation. He thanked NRM members for their patience in educating citizens about their electoral rights and condemned Ugandans who travel abroad only to criticize the country.

He further cautioned party members against engaging in corrupt practices, such as soliciting money from the party under false pretenses instead of working diligently.

Following the meeting in Manafwa, the YK Patriots moved to Bulambuli District to continue recruiting election agents and educating the public on their right to vote.

Residents at the rally echoed this plea, urging the national leader to elevate the status of their healthcare facility. Additionally, women specifically requested the establishment of clear channels through which they can access government development funds.
