As the general elections draw nearer government has allocated 6bn to the office of the president for the presidential swearing-in ceremony, which will take place in May next year.
Appearing before the presidential affairs commitee,t he ministry of presidency Haji Yunusu Kakande and minsiter Milly Babanda have defended the appropriation as the ministry is mandated to oversee the invitations and arrangements for this crucial function.
Presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on 12 January, and nominations will be conducted between September and October this year.
Kakande says the funds are inadequate, although the figure sounds ambiguous.
They also seek 8 billion, which has remained a non-funded priority for the expansion of the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.
The ministry has also directed all RDCS and deputies intending to stand for elective positions to officially resign and hand over instruments of power for timely and organized replacements.
The RDC secretariat has been allocated 2.0bn out of the required 4.5bn, the Ministry of security appropriated 16.940bn among others.
