Mubende Woman MP Flags Off Health-Focused Community Week at Regional Referral Hospital

MUBENDE, UGANDA – The Woman Member of Parliament for Mubende District, Hon. Nanyanzi Hope Felister, has officially launched a constituency-wide week dedicated to addressing critical health issues, beginning with a strategic assessment of the Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.

The initiative, which kicked off this week, saw the legislator and her team conduct a surprise visit to the hospital to identify and understand the pressing challenges faced by the facility. Hon. Nanyanzi stated that the visit revealed systemic shortages, with the team finding that "everything was lacking," from basic medical supplies to essential infrastructure.

In a concerning discovery, the MP highlighted that even fundamental items like syringes (canulas) were in short supply. She further pointed to a significant governance failure, alleging that the hospital's main gate has become a subject of political intrigue, claiming "the gate of this hospital, one of them, has been politicised—sold and then locked."

The launch of this health-focused community week underscores the MP's commitment to shifting legislative attention directly to service delivery and the dire state of public health infrastructure. The discovery of a reportedly politicised and inaccessible hospital gate symbolises the broader administrative and resource challenges plaguing the facility, which the MP has vowed to address in her ongoing efforts.
