Kampala, July 17, 2025. Voters in Lubaga South Constituency are set to line up behind NRM candidates in Lubaga South tomorrow in a highly anticipated NRM party primary election to choose their flag bearer for the 2026 parliamentary race.
The election, scheduled from 12 PM to 2 PM, will see the long-serving Lubaga Urban Council Speaker, Rt. Hon. Musa Mbazira (aka Bulldozer Sente Musawo), competing against other candidates for the NRM ticket.
According to Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission, the winner of today’s primary will be officially granted the party’s flag to contest in the 2026-2031 general elections for the Lubaga South Parliamentary seat.
Mbazira, who has been Speaker of Lubaga Urban Council on an NRM ticket for over 15 years, is now seeking to transition into national politics as a Member of Parliament. Known as "Bulldozer Sente Musawo", Mbazira has built a reputation as a grassroots mobilizer and service-delivery advocate.
Over the years, he has been credited with road construction projects, improving local council services, and supporting youth and women’s initiatives in Lubaga.
His supporters argue that his experience in local governance makes him the ideal candidate to represent Lubaga South in Parliament.
Tomorrow’s primary is expected to be highly competitive, with Mbazira facing off against other NRM hopefuls. The short two-hour voting window (12 PM - 2 PM) is aimed at ensuring a smooth and transparent process. Dr. Tanga Odoi has assured voters that the NRM Electoral Commission will oversee a free and fair election.
If Mbazira wins tomorrow’s primary, he will officially become the NRM flagbearer and shift his campaign focus toward the 2026 general elections.
His main challenge will be convincing voters that his long service in local council leadership translates into effective national representation.
Polling stations across Lubaga South have been set up, and party officials urge all registered NRM members to turn out in large numbers to decide their candidate. Results are expected later this evening.
